UK India Business Council Scholars Arrive In India

On 29th June, 10 students from 6 British Universities arrived in Delhi to start their 8 week UK India Business Council scholarship placements. ExpIndia have organised the programme in partnership with the UKIBC.

The students competed against over 50 applicants to win a place on the programme that will provide a first hand experience of living and working in India.

Each of the students have been selected to complete specific projects in 9 organisations based in Delhi and Gurgaon. The students have been placed in a range of companies from multinational organisations such as Rothschild, KPMG and SGS to start ups such as CosmosIgnite and Advaia. As graduate students the scholarships have matched the skills of the student to the needs of the organisation. Within the programme the scholars are offering a  wide range disciplines to the host companies from legal support, marketing, accounting, research through to project managment. Each of the students will have experiences that will assist them in their future career development in this particularly trying time.

Before arriving in Delhi scholars were given a Cultural Briefing seminar at the UKIBC offices in London in preparation for their time in London. During a brief change over the 10 students were also welcomed by the UKIBC team in Mumbai.

Tim Phillis, from ExpIndia, has commented that, 'This is a fantastic experience for both the students and the host organisation to engender greater understading between individuals and business in India and the UK. I hope that this will be the first step for the students in engaging with India on both personal and professional levels.'
